Austin, TX—Civil rights attorney and Texas 10th Congressional District candidate Mike Siegel on Sunday earned the endorsement of the Texas AFL-CIO at their 2020 Committee On Political Education Convention.

“I am honored and humbled to receive the support of Texas’ largest labor organization. Our campaign was able to bring together dozens of labor unions including fossil fuel industry workers from Houston. I support a Green New Deal, which raised some concern, but ultimately we forged a commitment to make sure Texas workers are at the table as we move ahead to battle the crisis of climate change.

“As we continue to fight to return responsive leadership to Congress for the 10th District, I am proud to stand arm in arm with my brothers and sisters in the labor movement to bring about the reforms we need in Washington.” Siegel said.

Siegel, a former Assistant City Attorney for the City of Austin and a former school teacher, came within 4.3% of defeating one of the richest members of Congress, Mike McCaul, with his people-powered campaign in 2018.

“We have boots on the ground all over Texas 10th, and we look forward to letting working people in the district know Mike has the full support of organized labor in Texas,” said Briana Burns, Siegel’s campaign manager.

Mike Siegel is a progressive Democrat running for Congress in Texas’ 10th district. Mike has spent his career in public service, as a school teacher, civil rights lawyer, and advocate for communities left out of the political process. You can learn more about Mike’s candidacy at:
